SONG OF THE DAY: RUN-DMC — “Christmas in Hollis”

Happy winter break everyone! While you’re studying for your finals in the next couple days, take a break to kick it with RUN-DMC.

SONG OF THE DAY: LCD Soundsystem — “All My Friends”

This is from LCD Soundsystem’s Sound of Silver released in 2007 on DFA.  The video was done in a single take and directed by Tom Kuntz, who interestingly enough also directed the emmy-winning Old Spice “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” commercials.

SONG OF THE DAY: Anthony Hamilton – “The Truth”

Anthony Hamilton is without a doubt one of my favorite soul/r&b artists. “The Truth”, off the excellent album Ain’t Nobody Worryin’, is one of my favorite songs. So it is sort of a no brainer for Song of The Day. Another no brainer is checking out his new album, Back to Love, which the good people at NPR have made available for free here.

UPCOMING SHOW AND SONG OF THE DAY: Macklemore and Ryan Lewis — “Otherside Remix”

The video project for “Otherside Remix ft. Fences” took place over a year and a half at a bunch of different locations. It was directed by the same guy who made Macklemore’s video for “My Oh My”, a tribute to longtime Seattle Mariners announcer Dave Niehaus. Enjoy the video, and for those of you on top of your game, enjoy the show.

SONG OF THE DAY: Fleet Foxes — “The Shrine / An Argument”

The Shrine / An Argument from Sean Pecknold on Vimeo.

“The Shrine / An Argument” is from Fleet Foxes‘ Helplessness Blues released earlier this year on Sub Pop.  The album is without a so-so song, and as a whole definitely one of my favorite albums of the year.  This video was directed by Sean Pecknold who also co-animated the film.

SONG OF THE DAY: Deer Tick — “Main Street”

“Main Street” is a new release, and the video is awesome. I’ll let it speak for itself. It’s rumored they’ll be releasing a new album/EP soon as well.
