Tonight is the night. GRiZ, the increasingly popular Detroit-based electronic artist, will be throwing down his first-ever headlining show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO. GRiZ, who currently calls Boulder, CO home has made numerous appearances at Red Rocks. His most notable appearances up to this point include a performance at Global Dance Festival in 2012 and a spot supporting Big Gigantic at Rowdytown 1. In the lead-up to this show, which will kick off his nationwide tour. Below, check out his newest mixtape, “Chasing the Golden Hour Pt. 1” as well as the music video for his 2013 song Smash the Funk. Included in this video is footage of GRiZ performing live at Red Rocks. Since his last performance at Red Rocks GRiZ has premiered his own record label “All Good Records” and will feature his label mates tonight on the Rocks. Muzzy Bear, Sunsquabi, and Manic Focus. The night will surely be full of new music and production from Kwiecinski (real name: Grant Kwiecinski). The concert sold out in the middle of August, so the stoke is set to be at astronomical levels.
On August 28, Halsey dropped her first album, BADLANDS, which quickly climbed to #2 on the iTunes Top Albums chart. If that doesn’t have you convinced to check her out, give “New Americana” a listen- an anthemic launch leads us into the hook that is laced with references to her musical influences. The Notorious B.I.G. reference in particular had me grinning. For more on Halsey, listen to two other songs, “Hurricane” and “Ghost,” both of which are also featured on BADLANDS, at https://soundcloud.com/halseymusic.
