SONG OF THE DAY: CHANCE THE RAPPER – “ANGELS”

Chance debuted this new song on Monday night on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” It’s an upbeat, surfy type of song with a positive message and references to his newborn daughter. It’s a great song to play in the library on a Wednesday night.

SONG OF THE DAY: DRUNK UNLCE – “REBEL”

This is the debut single from Drunk Uncle, a local band. The catchy versus and chorus build up to an incredibly explosive finale. Their sound is reminiscent of The Killers. Check out more of their music around campus or on their Soundcloud.

SONG OF THE DAY: BORN RUFFIANS- “I NEED A LIFE”

This playful tune will definitely get you moving (even though it’s fourth week). Born Ruffians are a Canadian band that have been around for a while but have seemed to stay under the radar. This was my favorite song when I was a freshman in high school. I’ll let you decide if that is a good or bad thing. “Needle” from the album “Birthmarks” is definitely worth a listen as well.

SONG OF THE DAY: Oliver- “Night Is On My Mind”

This is a perfect song for any type of Friday night. Whatever you are doing, throw this tune on and prepare to get your mind blown.TGIF am I right?

SONG OF THE DAY: FRUIT BATS- “TEGUCIGALPA”

Eric D. Johnson formed Fruit Bats as a solo project in the early 1990’s. Throughout the history of the band, Johnson has remained the only constant member as the lineup has changed multiple times. Fruit Bats are reminiscent of The Shins, which isn’t surprising considering Johnson had a brief stint as a member of The Shins in late 2006. Tegucigalpa has a different sound than the rest of The Ruminant Band, the album it is from but is worth a listen none-the-less.

SONG OF THE DAY: JAKE BUGG – “TWO FINGERS”

This isn’t a new song (it came out in 2012) but it’s new to me and, I think, one of Jake Bugg’s best tunes. Bugg perfectly captures nostalgia for youth and the fear of the future at the same time. It’s a great song to dance hard to or for an early evening bike ride.

Colorado College’s own Jeremy Zucker Releases Great New Tune

If making an awesome song wasn’t impressive enough, Jeremy Zucker, a sophomore at Colorado College, shot and directed the music video for his new song, “Dramamine”. The video features a very lovely Elizabeth Ellinger, another Colorado College student, who stands in the middle of the frame in front of a very well known landscape among CC students, Pikes Peak. The video effortlessly flows with the lyrics and vibe of Zucker’s track. The girl being like a drug, dramamine, is further illustrated through her being the absolute center of attention of the video. To further the message of the track, trippy visuals and changing colors are scattered throughout the video.

Zucker’s sultry, smooth voice is perfectly layered over a lush synth melody and simple beat. Zucker’s voice perfectly compliments and fills in the song, locking in it’s position as a sure fire hit. Zucker also brings in something that hasn’t been around for awhile, autotune. The way he uses it in this new track is unbelievable, Kanye-esque one could say. Just when you didn’t think Zucker could get any better, he comes out with a new track and blows you away.

SONG OF THE DAY: The Cairo Gang- “Be What You Are”

This new tune from The Cairo Gang is a great way to kick off the weekend! The song gives a summery vibe, with its retro sounds. Definitely worth a listen!
